Position programmer cobol / java

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced COBOL and Java Developer with strong expertise in Parthenon Host Architecture and Parthenon Retail systems. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on development experience and a solid background in accounting-level functionalities within retail systems.
This role is well-suited for professionals with a mix of legacy host and modern Java/Spring Boot expertise, who can work independently in a fully remote setup.

Key Responsibilities:
•Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using COBOL (MicroFocus) and Java (Spring Boot).
•Work on Parthenon Host Architecture and support Parthenon Retail modules, with a strong focus on accounting-level functionality.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between host and Java-based systems.
•Analyze, debug, and resolve technical issues in both host and modern architectures.
•Deliver clean, efficient, and maintainable code aligned with best practices.
•Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and improvements in a hybrid technology environment.

Required Skills & Experience:
•Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a developer.
•Strong expertise in Parthenon Host Architecture with COBOL (MicroFocus).
•Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
•In-depth knowledge of Parthenon Retail, particularly at the Accounting level.
•Experience with OBBs and host system integrations.
•Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in legacy and modern systems.
•Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Education:
•Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
