Reporting to the IT Systems Manager, The Network Engineer will support all the IT network infrastructure in The Ocean Race Headquarters operating around the clock and at the highest standards.
As part of the Technology Department, the IT Network Engineer will primarily be responsible for maintaining, writing documentation and processes of the 2022-23 edition of The Ocean Race.
As everybody within the Technology department, the Network Engineer must show she/he is driven to explore and understand new technologies and apply them to solutions that can meet the business needs.
The Ocean Race is a unique global 24/7 around the world sailing event. You will be expected to have reasonable flexibility in your role, responsabilities, and schedule according to business requirements.
This position is based at The Ocean Race Headquarters in Alicante, Spain and is a non-travelling role.
Duties and responsabilities:
-Responsibility for the network
-Relationship with Stopover IT Team
-Assist stopover network design, planning and implementation around the world.
-Maintaining network performance by applying network monitoring analysis and performance tuning, troubleshooting network problems and escalating issues to vendors.
-Lead design, planning and implementation of network and IT equipment on-site to support cross departmental deliverables and ensuring connectivity across each site.
-Monitor network performance to ensure security and availability.
Additionally in the pre-planning stages of the race, the role will also touch on;
-Support TOR HQ team with network installation and configuration.
-Support end users with IT related issues.
-Support network design of race yachts.
Skills and Knowledge requirements
-Cisco, Fortinet, Ubiquity, Solar wind, PRTG, Motorola and others.
-Team player with very good communication skills, solid team work ethic and positive attitude towards learning new skills and technologies.
-Passion for Technology and Sport.
-Event IT experience is preferred.
-Foundational understanding of Networking
-Willingness to perform hands-on functions.
-University degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
-Cisco and Fortinet certification
-Fluent English (written and spoken). Other languages are a plus.
